The LGBT* Center has three tiers of involvement opportunities for students who want to get some volunteer hours and professional development opportunities.

Volunteer Team

Students who are interested in spending a few hours per week with the LGBT* Center can apply to join our team as volunteers. If you are interested in this position, please fill out this application or e-mail for more information. Queer Peer Mentoring Program

We are excited to offer a mentoring program for the first time during the 2017-2018 academic year! We are currently seeking students who are well-adjusted to the UNI campus and LGBTQ+ community to serve as mentors to LGBTQ+ students, as well as students who are interested in peer support. If you are interested in becoming a mentor for the 2017-2018 academic year, please fill out this application. Students who are interested in receiving a mentor should fill out this application.

General Support

Students and community members who are interested in occasional involvement, but aren’t able to dedicate consistent time to the LGBT* Center can sign up to be on our general support mailing list. From time to time, we may reach out to this list for opportunities like event staffing, supporting initiatives in the Cedar Valley, or feedback about LGBTQ+ life at UNI. To join the General Support mailing list, please e-mail with the subject line “General Support List.” We will e-mail you whenever volunteer opportunities arise.

Get Involved with Student Organizations

UNI sponsored student organizations are open to students of all identities. We encourage all students to seek involvement on campus that meet their individual needs.
