We are pleased to announce the Thomas M. Davis Endowed Scholarship to benefit transgender students at the University of Northern Iowa. Dr. Davis served UNI for 40 years as a faculty member with health promotion and is an advocate for all disadvantaged and disenfranchised students, but is especially sensitive to the extreme challenges and consequences faced by transgender students. His scholarship seeks to provide financial support for the highest GPA-achieving transgender student at the University of Northern Iowa.
- Students must identify themselves as transgender, either through MyUNIverse self-identification or to GSS staff at firstname.lastname@example.org
- Students with at least one semester of graded college courses will be considered
- The student with the highest GPA will be selected
To Be Considered
For the 2019-2020 academic year, all students who have self-identified as transgender either in the Admissions Application or through MyUNIverse by September 8th will be considered. No formal application is necessary to apply at this time. If you need assistance confirming your gender identity or wish to ensure you are considered, please e-mail GSS staff at email@example.com. The selected candidate will be contacted by September 16th with further information.
For the 2020-2021 academic year, applicants should fill out the UNI Scholarship Application by the priority deadline of January 15, 2020. The application will give the opportunity for students to self-identify as transgender and from this list, the recipient will be selected in the Spring.
